The Three Guests

Thoughts rushing around my head.
Emotions gushing around my body like a powerful and violent hurricane engulfing me in the process.

Hello Anxiety. Hello Discomfort. Hello Fear.

Just sit with these feelings I hear.
No judgement, no fixing, no narration.
Just sit with them.
So I do.

The four of us sit on a backless stone bench overlooking a lake, its water as still as the night.
I start to embrace each one of them like you do old friends.

Hi Anxiety. Hi Fear. Hi Discomfort.

I want to ask them why they’re here with me, but I don’t.
I exercise control as the purpose is to feel my feelings, to observe them and simply be with them.

As I sit with my three guests, reaching out to hug them all, I am filled with tears.
What is this? Overwhelming compassion? Acceptance? Love?

Yes, yes, and yes.

Suddenly, Anxiety, Fear and Discomfort no longer seem to be my enemies, but a part of me.
A part of the imperfect, yet lovable and complete me.

Thank you for visiting today.
Thank you for being with me.

I sit. I observe. I feel. I let go.

Beautiful. I love the protagonist’s journey. The fear at the beginning; the contentment and acceptance at the end.
